The Gertrude Harrington Mysteries

A series of cosy crime mysteries: Death on Swift Wings, Murder by the Book, A Small Dose of De’Ath and Maid for Murder – series ongoing.

Gertrude Harrington is a spinster who lives in the fictional village of Clyst St James. When we first encounter her, she is just taking over the local Tea Room following its previous proprietor’s retirement. Gertrude was once the Head Cook of Templemead Hall, a job she loved but one she could no longer continue following the murder of her niece, one of the maids.

Mystery and murder seem to follow Gertrude wherever she goes. She is close friends with Chief Inspector Bill Lennox from nearby Lympton-on-Sea, who values her opinions and assistance in solving murders, which are prevalent in the county of Kingworthy.

Over the course of the series we meet Gertrude’s siblings, learning secrets from their past along the way. There are regular characters who reappear throughout the books, not all of whom will survive.

In the Gertrude Harrington Mysteries no-one is safe.
